“From Mimesis to Aristotle for Screenwriters-and back: What can a Modern Writer Learn from the Ancient Greeks about Writing?”

A film of Apostolos’ play, The Tragical History of Jackson Pollock, will be screened at the Institut Français, Athens, on Monday, February 21 at 22:00, as a part of their film festival, Cinéma et réalité.
Apostolos’ novel Makavettas, originally published in 1988 has been rereleased by Ikaros, publisher of Logicomix and Apo tin Parania stous Algorithmous. The book is being launched with an event at the Public Cafe in Syntagma Sq.
On Wednesday, November 10, come hear Apostolos speak at the Cycladic Art Museum, Athens. His lecture, which begins at 19:00 and will be given in Greek, is titled “What took place between the six and fourth centuries BCE: the passage to Greek mathematics.”

As part of the ASCSA director’s lecture series, the Oct. 5th talk, Graphic Greeks: Ancient Greece in Three Comics Narratives, features Apostolos and Alecos, and Eric Shanower, artist of the graphic novel, The Bronze Age.
